I’m over it.

I’m sick of all the drama on twitter. It’s not fun anymore because of it. I’m all for expressing your opinion, but not when you are expressing said opinion in such a juvenile fashion. Verbally attacking people is not cool over something as silly as stars. Verbally attacking people because they unfollowed you for saying something they thought was offensive is not cool.

Everybody does twitter differently. Strange concept, huh? People doing things differently? Yeah, that was sarcasm.

So here’s the thing:

  • Starting now, I will unfollow ANYONE who I feel is bringing the drama. I’m sick of people fighting about stars and how to use them. It’s so fucking insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
  • I will unfollow ANYONE who calls somebody out for unfollowing. If someone unfollows you for being offensive, that is their right. I’m not easily offended, but some people are and that’s OK because that’s what the unfollow/block button is for. Don’t take it so fucking personally, especially since you should expect to get that reaction when you are posting things that are meant to get a reaction out of people. There’s that whole “people are different” thing popping up again.

I’m all for having a opinion, cuz I’ve got a million of them. I think Rush Limbaugh is a douchebag, but some people love him and I’m sure I’ve gotten unfollowed for some of the shit I’ve posted about him, but I’ve NEVER publicly called out a particular person for doing so.

In short, do twitter however you want to. Just don’t get pissy when somebody unfollows you for it.

I agree with Miss Cook completely. We come to twitter and got together and shared laughs for a reason. We star people for a variety of reasons, they are funny and insightful. If I had a nickel for everytime all of my friends on twitter made me laugh out loud or smile, you will never know just how much you help me keep my sanity throughout the day.

All of this crap has everyone on edge lately, and you can see it in the borderline bad mood that so many are in. I try to stay out of it, the whole engage brain before mouth. And I was not aware of what exactly was going on. But I will be damned if I am going to walk on eggshells on freaking twitter.

Personally, I enjoy it when people express themselves on twitter and share opinions on everything. I can’t think of a better way to actually learn about someone, outside of sitting down and having a conversation with them. Politics seem to be an issue lately, I’m conservative. Many of my friends here are not and thats fine with me. I tend to not star things I don’t agree with, unless its really funny or done in a funny manner. Calling Sarah Palin a C word is not funny to me. Thats just my opinion, its how I star things. Just as I know that things I say may not agree with your particular tastes. And thats just fine too.

Ultimately, be yourself! If you don’t like what is said then unfollow. There is enough drama and tension in the great big world all around us. We all came to Twitter to get some laughs and meet people that we wouldn’t get the chance to meet otherwise. Never be afraid, to be who you are.

Now can someone help me find my funny?

I love you both so much right now, I am crying a bit. :)  You two are the reason I am at Twitter and Tumblr, and folks just like you.  I love your humor and compassion and just everything that I learn that you bring to the community.  I don’t know what the ruckas is about, and I don’t care.  I just am happy I have a community of neat, diverse people to care about, and who care about me.
